The Call of Duty series currently is one of the most popular
first-person shooter games in the entire genre, but in recent years, it has
struggled to innovate and bring fresh experiences to the table. While the
series has its massive fan base, like many other large franchises, it has
fallen victim to providing a repetitive gaming experience, lackluster
campaigns, and an overemphasis on multiplayer that hinders its potential.
Another major issue with the Call of Duty series is the recurring formula that
has become all too familiar. The games now follow a predictable pattern of
explosive set-pieces, Hollywood-inspired storylines, and scripted sequences.
This formula, exciting back in the day, has now become repetitive and lacks the
innovation and creativity that players crave. The series seems hesitant to take
risks and break away from its established formula, resulting in the game series
being stagnant and not much interesting to players anymore. Another letdown is
the single-player campaigns, which have gradually lost their charm over the
years. The focus on online multiplayer and now on the “battle royale” mode has
often overshadowed the narrative aspect, resulting in campaigns that feel
rushed, shallow, and forgettable. The stories lack depth and character
development, leaving players uninvested and uninterested for more meaningful
experiences by the franchise.

Call of duty has its drawbacks, agreed, however, it is still one of
the most popular and played FPS game franchise to date. The user-friendly menu/settings,
personalized controls and smooth gameplay allow players to quickly get in a
game and play according to their style. Moreover, the series provides
unrivalled customization options for weapons and game assets which really
intrigue the player, the reward/rank system is also respected by the community.
And other game modes like “zombies” and “infected” are really fun to play, especially
on a split screen or with friends online. Overall, the game needs to be
revamped and reimagined a little, other than that, everything is loved by the
audience.
